How to Book a Bespoke Portrait

All drawings are drawn on quality paper using lightfast pencils, ensuring your portrait will last a lifetime.

There are a few things to consider before booking your portrait.

Medium type

I work in coloured pencil and graphite. Examples of my coloured pencil work can be found here and graphite here. Graphite sketches are slightly less detailed and quicker to produce hence they are cheaper than coloured pencil work, perfect if you are on budget!  Coloured pencil portraits are more detailed but do require a good quality image to work from! If I can’t see the details I can't draw them!

Size

Please see my price list for sizes available and a price guide. Bespoke sizes and compositions are available, please get in touch to discuss.

Reference photos

I work from photographs, preferably digital but remember the clearer the photo - the better the portrait! Eyes are crucial to a portrait, so i can capture a true likeness along with their character, so try choose a photo where the eyes are clear, open and in focus.

For portraits with multiple subjects, you don't need to have them all in the same photograph. I can work from separate photos.

If you are unsure if your photo is suitable or which ones to use, I am more than happy to advise.

I realise that many portraits are memorials and high quality images are not available, I will work from poor quality photos but please understand that your portrait will not be as detailed.

Contact me

Please contact me here via the website or email laurablountart@gmail.com with information on your portrait, including what animal I will be drawing, whether it will be one subject or multiple, which medium type and size, would you like head and neck or full body in the portrait and if you require the portrait for a certain date. If you are able to send photos as well, please do. If you are undecided on any of these, I am more than happy to advise.
